You may remember Amber from a previous post. She’s a high school senior I photographed. Shortly after our session she decided to compete for Queen Scheherazade crown and won. The crown is well deserved as she is a lovely, outgoing and eloquent young lady. Good job mom & dad! Yesterday, we joined her family and friends and watched her on her throne as the float made its way down the parade route. Here are some pics. Enjoy!

I like to say “I love you” to my husband. This weekend marks our 12th Anniversary. I can’t believe we’ve been married that long. I feel blessed being married to this kind, loving, and supportive man. I must also add that he has a witty sense of humor-that I love. I took this photograph of us earlier this year during our visit to Ventura County. We stayed at the Westlake Village Inn www.westlakevillageinn.com. The grounds at this location are absolutely perfect for a wedding or portrait session. If you are planning an event at this location you will not be disappointed.

After our visit to Salvation Mountain we headed over to see the Salton Sea mud pots. These mini mud volcanoes were fascinating to watch. They bubble, gurgle, spew and spit. The texture of the mud reminded of mud used in facials. I felt like dabbing some on my face. I’ve posted a pic and a video of a mud pot I found on youtube so you can see a mud pot’s bubbling action.

We took a day trip to visit a National Treasure, Salvation Mountain. Salvation Mountain is located in Niland, CA about 1 & 1/2 hours from Palm Springs. This mountain was built by hand using adobe and straw by Leonard Knight. Leonard has been relentlessly working on this mountain for over 20 years. To learn more about Leonard and Salvation Mountain check out the website www.salvationmountain.us.
Earlier this week, I was in San Luis Obispo learning from one of the industry’s best, Mike Larson (www.mikelarson.com). This trip was a blessing in many ways. First, it my first road trip riding solo…ever. I was terrified at the thought of driving alone. My fears ceased as I was able to think and reflect on God and what He is doing in my life. As I entered the Central California region I gasped at its beauty. I’m going to miss seeing the green covered hills, the cows freely roaming and grazing, the vineyards, and the ocean. Another blessing was staying at the Avila Villlage Inn (www.avilavillageinn.com) in Avila Beach. This place exceeded my expectations. If you are ever visiting the central coast I highly recommend this place. The next blessing was getting to see a childhood friend for the first time in about 10 years. Jennie and I have known each other since junior high so it was great getting together and talking about the past, present and future. I’m so proud of her accomplishments. She is the owner of Trumpet VIne Catering (www.trumpetvinecatering.com). My biggest blessing was getting to know Mike and his lovely wife Rachel. They are the most loving,down-to-earth people. Not only is he a fabulous photographer, he is a wise and humble person. During the 2 day seminar, Mike shared his business knowledge and took us on a little photo field Trip. Thanks again Mike and Rachel for this incredible experience! Here are some of my pics:
We took a day trip to Ensenada to visit the famous Blow Hole. It has been over a decade since I’ve visited this tourist attraction. Since then it has changed dramatically. The walkway leading to the blowhole is lined with taco stands, souvenir booths, restaurants, and even pharmacies! During our walk, my friend Suzanne and I decided to try something new. We had a grilled clam. When I saw the cook whip out the hair dryer to melt the cheese we started to laugh. I thought it was hilarious so I thought I’d share the pic.

I’ve had a chance to getaway from the desert’s grueliing heat and humdity. One of trips included going south of the border to Puerto Nuevo, Baja CA. This year we invited the Finch family to join us on our family vacation. We had a great time connecting, relaxing and of course eating. My friend, Chad flew above the ocean’s shore on an ultraglide. They will soon be embarking on a new adventure as they head to Ecuador to become missionaries. To learn more about them feel free to visit there website at www.thefinchfamily.org.
My hubby and I celebrated our 11th Wedding Anniversary this weekend! To celebrate my husband suggested we travel around and take pics of just the 2 of us. This is rare since most of the photos I take are of the kids or the kids and my husband. Can any moms relate? After our field trip we picked up a pizza from Stuft Pizza in La Quinta. We’ve heard rave reviews about this pizza so we decided to give them a try. My husband’s a pizza connoisseur. In fact his fav’s are on speed dial on his cell phone. Well Stuft Pizza was a hit and it climbed to number one.
